Thanks! And I also got something else for the effort. Here is a picture of the chicken fat. Nasty, huh? (Lindsay, I'll betcha they wouldn't have liked that picture either! Sorry that happened to you -- some people...)

But just wash it then render with onions, and voila

I love the combination of the chicken fat in front of those scholarly looking books. Why does that sound like the making of a good short story? Oh, and Mary -- I missed your comment on the avatar -- thanks! Yes, it's one of mine. I do weekend photography assignments and this one was for an assignment called "strength".

I love Dollar Tree for things like this. Foil pans are also very cheap there and I use them for lots of things, not particularly for cooking.

I was hoping someone would appreciate the contrast. You are good! :D

Random food pics from the last year I didn't end up using in a blog:

Pecorino/Rosemary pizza. I strongly recommend this combination; it was delicious and easy.

Tuna "meatballs" with tomato sauce and spaghetti, a traditional Sicilian thing.

Home-made fettucini with fiddlehead ferns, meyer lemons and fresh shelled peas

... getting about time for that again.

I obviously need chicken fat and fiddlehead ferns...

What is in the tuna meatballs, it looks like they weren't cooked in the sauce, are they more like a croquette? My mom's family is all Sicilian but I guess the tuna meatballs didn't make it over on the boat. I need to go to Sicily again and look for those, I was obsessed with swordfish when I was there.

My nephew grilled sausage. I liked the way he cut it.

But look at him just pouring the barbecue sauce on top of it... that's where he lost me. :(

Mary,

Yeah, they're fried separately (as many meatballs are). The ones in that picture are a bit overcooked, actually.
