As Charleston is only 100 miles from Myrtle Beach, I think I'd like to go there one of the days we're out there. Restaurant and/or things that shouldn't be missed recommendations?

Amy The May issue of Saveur has an article on Charleston's Soul Food Cafe's and they list where to eat: Bertha's Kitchen, Dave's Seafood Carry-Out, Ernie's, and Martha Lou's Kitchen. There are tons of fine dining establishments but the only one I remember is Magnolia's...had some really great shecrab soup there. You should also check out Beauford....some of the most elegant antebellam mansions.... ilene

We were in Charleston a few years ago. Someone (I think it was Tim) recommended FIG and it was worth the recommendation. Local and sustainable foods; I recall a good wine list in the $45-85 range (but I believe I had Chimay). There's a menu on the website.

Amy, You really want to go for the "low country" food in Charleston. You can check out the following: Jestines Kitchen, SNOB, link to Hominy Grill, link to Poogan's Porch and Allouettes. The Mustard Seed used to be our favorite for low prices and high fun. FIG (Food Is Good) is more upscale. Tim

We never made it down there, so cannot make personal recommendations, but my sister highly recommends Fig. Have a grand time...hope no hurricanes are in the forecast.

Fig is probably to high browed for a business lunch, may try some of Tims suggestions, might look for a good low country boil joint.
