Tonight, more cauliflower soup and a nice salad (with lettuce grown in my basement, Dave would be proud!) with poached eggs. Well, egg for the wife, two for me. Still haven't got my poached egg shape down pat.

Paul,
Looks good. Should have expected you to have fiestaware.

Yeah, I have some nice aggressive very modern white stuff for special occasions, but for everyday, I love my explosion of colour (no two plates the same!)!

Props to Homer Laughlin (maker of Fiesta) - made in WV so of course I had to have it. Here's one of their nice oval shapes holding the tomatillo-braised pork loin we had Sunday evening:

I have some Fiestaware, also some Homer Laughlin vintage pieces in the "Rhythm" shape - very mid-century. Makes me want to put some jazz on the hi-fi and whip up a Beef Wellington.

Tonight, we go more eastern european. Veal schnitzel with yukon gold potatoes tossed with butter & chives (they are so lovely this time of year just simple like this), caramelized onions, two kinds of mustard and home-made pickles (french style, my very first!!! wow, what a difference).
A lovely dinner, and now I have schnitzel for lunch too!

So, some "quick food" for a weeknight: That's a homemade calzone, filled with: - goat cheese
- ricotta salata
- shaved brussells sprouts
- Calbrian hot peppers
- home-dried tomatoes
- seasonings
Turned out fan-tabulous. Hmm, I wonder if I could get away with feeding these to my sprout-hating sweetie ... This is also a celebration of finally getting our oven repaired. Hopefully, anyway.
