My KA mixer just popped its second gear. Thats two gears and one dough hook. This thing is starting to piss me off. Ok, I can replace the gear ... probably about $50 or so of parts (gear+grease+shipping+taxes+etc). And I might. But right now, I'm agitated ....
Thoughts on non-KA mixers? Do any of them have the power, usability and reliability we should expect? A hobart is out of the question, money wise. It would be nice if it took KA accessories... I really like my meat grinder and pasta roller. Or maybe thoughts on the "best" KA model?

I'm right there with you. One of my KAs bit the dust (for the second time) a few days ago, and I'm resistant to changing as I've two extra work bowls for it, which are pricey.

I really love my Kenwood, but it's an older model and I have not read good reviews for the new ones. And nothing from KA fits it. I've heard these are both good (butt ugly, though): Bosch UniversalElectrolux DLXOh, and they are kinda pricey.

Well, I ordered a 7 qt Cuisinart from Amazon.ca. A lot cheaper then a KA 600. I'm crossing my fingers that it'll last and do the job. It is descended from the Kenwood but is supposedly a considerably better design then the recent Kenwoods.
