Porketta, spinich salad, asparagus, fresh bread from the breadmaker, caramelized onions, and hot browned mushrooms with Hemplers bacon bits.
And a Kunde Syrah from Sonoma.
Afterwards lemon ice cream with strawberries. (Hagen daz Five series in lemon, it is fantastic if you have not tried it).

Paul, can you get flap meat? I find it texturally similar to skirt steak, well marbled, and very flavorful.
I get it at Costco for about $4.50 US per pound.

In my dreams! One of our Chinese grocerers, T&T, has "flank meat" (as opposed to flank steak, which they also carry) which appears to be possibly flap meat. It is pretty good. The border isn't far away, and I go a few times a year for packages, so now that I know they have it there I'll just stock up every cheap. I was surprised that beef in Ogdensburg was not cheaper then ours for premium cuts though, especially considering the weak dollar. I expect Ogdensburg is relatively expensive though.

Bought a Helen Chen 14" wok on Amazon and am trying to teach myself about stir frying by working my way through Grace Young's, Stir-Frying to the Sky's Edge So every night last week and for the near future it's faux-Chinese.

Wino, I bought her book, too, but haven't used it too much. Last night was Mark Bittman's fried rice which we love. Sadly, I turned on the wrong burner and laid Bittman's book on it and now have an electric coil imprinted on the back. fitzie
