Our Christmas Eve and Day are a mish-mash of everyone's favorites, spread out onto a huge buffet and we nibble and graze. Somehow it all works, and everyone is stuffed and happy.
For Christmas Eve my contributions are CI's hummus, vegis, parmesan toasts, salmon platter (smoked, gravlax and the trimmings), olives, artichoke spread, Marilyn's toffee, fudge and spritz. Christmas Day is still tbd.
Everyone's menus sound wonderful and inspiring.

Since I thought I had to work a full day on CE, because we have been busy here at work (GOOD THING), I have been prepping things for the last two nights and I am way ahead of schedule . The boss just came in to my office and told me we are leaving at Noon on CE . I'm ahead of schedule and I am getting out of work at Noon. Oh Happy Day!

Prime rib on Xmas eve, goose on Xmas day. Just us, we will be having niece, nephew and friend the week after and at this point plan on a gumbo followed by brisket. http://menu.vldyson.com/2010/12/19/december-19-2010.aspx

Alaska King Crab legs with 2 sauces, Caesar salad (original recipe), roasted asparagus , and 1995 Charles Heidsieck, Blanc des Millenaires (Brut Blanc de Blancs) - a FABULOUS Champagne. Bernard Callebaut dark chocolates for dessert. Supper for two by the fire!

All,
I've just been informed that one of our guests for Xmas* Eve has Celiac. Good think I had decided on Borsht as the main course; if I'd gone with a moroccan casserole, she'd have been SOL.
(* if "Xmas" is equivalent to "Christmas", then should Christian films be "X-rated"? Well, I suppose a certain film from Mel Gibson ought to be ... )

We are going to our neighbors on Christmas day for dinner. They have their 20's something kids in town and do a huge sushi feed. Always accompanied by lots of champagne and the kids do sake bombs.

Fuzzy
Xmas is not an abbreviation for Christmas, the X is a visual representation of the cross (yes I know that is a St. Andrew and it tmas is closer). There is a name for constructs such as this, perhaps rebus?

Rolled out of bed and got $107 prime rib in oven at 6:00 a.m., and no little kids to wake us up, insisting that Santa had been here!!!
