Great Question. I don't know if they mean "fine" as in "good", "superior" as in a high quality versus mediocre or poor cornmeal , or by grind size as in coarse, medium, . . . Even so, one man's fine is another's flour. The answer lies with the author of the recipe, unless you're willing to test different batches.
