Thanks, Mary. You are just so organized. I don't have any fennel & I'm not going out for any, but have herbs in the yard.

tomorrow will be osso buco, salad & will try to make some time to bake some bread. Saw an easy recipe in the French Table recipe for what looks to be a yummy bread. Will report back if I make it & if it is good.

Did anyone make Pepperheads jalapeno bread? It was delicious.

Kathy,

Do you still have your folder from San Antonio? The bread I demoed there (and the recipe was in the binder) is a really good direct method French Bread.

Of course I do! I will ck it out tomorrow. I'm trying to start back slowly with breads that don't need so much resting time. I'm not a patient person. Thanks for reminding me of your great demo & pics in the booklet. You did a great job. Thanks, Kathy

Oooh, I made dinner last night, on a MONDAY!!! This is huge for me. Singing the happy "getting my cooking mojo back" song

Blackened tilapia, mock choix (sp?), roasted asparagus with balsamic browned butter.

Ok, not gourmet, but still better than flatbread pizzas!!

Tonight, Vegetarian Chipotle Chile and cornbread.

Sounds gourmet to me!

I think it is a big win every night we cook instead of eating processed foods. I'll even take eating at a 'real' restaurant (where they cook, as opposed to deep fry/reheat foods made in a factory somewhere) as at least somewhat of a win.

Last night the best I could manage was some local Neapoli-style order out pizza from a local joint. Tonight is a basic bean salad.... hopefully thursday I can undertake something more ambitious.

thanks, Amy, my memory needs to be tweeked frequently!

Made Dave's jalapeno/cheese bread again today. It is great, but the texture is very wet. Baked the second loaves for an hour instead of the rec 30 min. Still very wet for a bread. It is still delicious.

Sent a partial loaf & some chicken soup to my neighbors for watching the house.

Sounds fantastic Nancy! I love that asparagus recipe, makes me long for spring.

Kathy, how did the fish turn out?

I also agree with Paul. Real food is what I want in my day to day life.

We are having omelets tonight. Last night I bought a Thai kit. Can you get those? Packs with fresh veggies and herbs for different Thai dishes. This one had Thai eggplants, little corn, chillies, some leaf thing, those very long beans, glass noodles and stir fry sauce. I added some chicken, garlic, lime juice and fish sauce. They are a good solution to precooked crap when you are short on time or inspiration.

Cauliflour au gratin from Julia and roasted chicken breasts. Green salad. Not very original but we love cauliflour and it was on sale, Now I have to use it. I'll make the old broc/cauli salad if I can find the recipe.
