Becky, that to me is the difference. You can disagree with the posts and this thread, make your points without being rude, condescending or hateful. We agree to disagree.

From my standpoint, I was tryng to make fun of her; she sets herself up for it. You surely don't think this is the first time she's been the subject of a post - I can't tell you how many pm's I've gotten over tangling with her. I have no respect for someone who consistently sets themselves up as "I have it all, know it all, am all," and puts down and refuses to listen to people who are far more knowlegeable than she is.

And for all her blowhardedness, she slips, and tells us who she really is. From her posts, based on her use of language, and consistent mispellings of certain words, I believe that she is a nanny/housekeeper who is either Filipino or Indonesian. And that's OK, but she wants to live out her fantasy life on the OB, and expects us to believe it. I don't, and I am not alone.

So, the next time I'm on the OB, and she pisses me off, I'll call her out.

As an alternative...

At least half of the people I know have english as a second or third language (or, occasionally, fourth....). Their use of language, particularly written, can be odd and is not a reflection of their status or education (other then insufficient experience with english). On the whole, I find her english quite good for the interwebs.

Also, most people I know (or at least visit) have pristine, apparently unused kitchens, even those who cook quite heavily. Over the holidays, I'll be visiting my mother in law who cooks a lot, but whose kitchen seems to look utterly sterile. I swear I don't know where all the stuff goes, but she has a quite large kitchen and pantry and I imagine that helps. The counters have maybe a toaster and coffee machine on them, that is it. And I suspect the coffee machine isn't there when I am not visiting. This is, I suspect, a cultural thing. Certainly I was brought up in an environment where kitchens are very "used", full of people, food and generally stuff. But it sure isn't where I am now, or the people I know. My kitchen tends to be more wrecked, a compromise between my habits and my wife's (obviously her mother is an influence...) :)

Lots of things and people on the internet (and in life for that matter I suppose) aren't what they appear, but sometimes they aren't what looks like is behind the mask, either. Hard to say what her story is.

Whatever, it's OK. It's just the transparent pretense of another life........

KSS,

Sometimes people play out fantasy lives on forums because their real lives suck. Imagine if you did call her out, and she broke down and admitted that she was spending so much time on the internet because she had lost her house and job and was living in a friend's walk-in closet. Would that make you feel better?

Sometimes people just have Asperger's. Gods know I deal with enough of these in the world of computing, which is a refuge for the socially handicapped. One just has to learn to cope with such people -- and use your empathy -- because they cannot change their behavior.

A couple people have PM'd me about this thread, and reminded me that it's contrary to the charter of this board:

Quote:
The bulletin board is hosted by The Fuzzy Chef, and is moderated by a group of its members. This is a "family" board: profanity, sniping, vendettas and other member-to-member unpleasantness is not tolerated.

So, I will ask folks on this board to voluntarily refrain from character assassination of anyone on TOBB or elsewhere. Well, unless they're a TV celebrity. Then they're fair game. ;)
