I do understand the lessons above. I also feel terrible about all of our loss with the changes in a really wonderful BB experience and the pathetic evolution of CI from "the Best Magazine in America" to its current state. That first meeting in Chicago was a magical experience and we really had fun fighting, cussing and bitching at each other.

Much of our complaining is to release pent up frustrations. It's much like having Julia Child replace by Sandra Lee. It's hard not to be snarky at that idea. I also was the recipient of incredible vitriole delivered by personal message and my weakness is clearly that I am not willfully forgiving.

We'll do much better by mocking the message and not the messenger.

I completely understand where you're coming from, and I respect your opinion.

I also think it's a crying shame when one person has such limited self-awareness, they don't understand their impact on others, particularly when it's so completely unpleasant for those on the other end.

But, you're right, it's not nice to talk about people behind their back, no matter how much they annoy you.

P.S. And Tim speaks the truth...that first get together in Chicago was magical. In fact the early days of the board were like that as well...we teased, fought and laughed together all the time. That spirit is completely gone. I think this is the yearning for those days back.

I have to say, given the quoted passages, I'm not clear on what everyone is on about. But, whatever.

It was just pointed out to me that this thread is 14 pages long-over half of which are basically repeating the same message. However horrible one person on another forum is, that's enough.
Many of us were prolific posters over at CI, we often gave advice and shared jokes and so on. We left that board for several reasons, most of which had to do with technical issues and the lack of support from CI, not because we found the posters there objectionable.
Once CC was started it was inevitable that a broader range of cooks would make their way to the boards.
So there are lots of new folks and many of the more experienced members are gone-just who do you think is going to post? If the loss of one poster-Crystal for example-is enough to ruin a forum, then the community wasn't much to brag on. I've gotten nasty notes from folks on the CI boards-Rhonda was especially pissed at me for a while-and I tend to ignore them.
I didn't find your posts offensive in and of themselves. Once in a while we all need to be reminded that most of the folks we know online we only know a tiny part of, and to refrain from judgment based on that tiny part.
People coming here could see this thread and assume we're gossipy bitches with more interest in trashing someone than in cooking. And that would be too bad.
