Last night was caramelized carrot soup (MC) followed by SV'd Basa with tarragon butter on it and a side of salad mostly from our grow op. Simple but good.
I had to look up braciole!

Brociole are not only tasty, but can be fodder for a furious food fight about authenticity, tradition, and even spelling.

Last night, dinner out. Had a French dip with a southwestern taco salad. preceeded by a sweet vermouth martini and followed by some Mark West Pinot noir.
The restaurant put horseradish on the sandwich, liked that a lot, will do that at home next time we make them.

I found some lamb ribs at one of the good multi-ethnic store here, (nicely packed with a sprig of parsley!) and rubbed them with a Rogan Josh mixture from the same store. They went the fridge for a few days as life intervened. Then I got my mom a batteryboperated can opener, and she couldn't get it to work, so she brought it to me. Reversing the batteries seemed be all it needed. To check it out I used the first two cans on hand, coconut milk and straw mushrooms. So I put that in the slow cooker and added the lamb and let it go for about 5 hours. Spiced up the resulting sauce with some Thai red curry paste, and served them over short-grain rice. I'm really liking the lamb ribs, and will try some on the grill pretty soon.

So, yesterday was multi-ethnic day.
Brunch we had at the Norway Day festival here in SF. Included waffles with jam and sour cream, gravalax and rye bread, herring, gjeltost & rolls, and krumkake.
Evening was Cinco de Mayo. So rockfish in green mole, and chili-zucchini casserole, guacamole, salsa and chips. And of course margaritas.
