Hey Darcie, I'm making my version of chicken soup with barley, lentils, rice and chickpeas added to the defatted broth (along with the cut up chicken and vegetables cooked with it all). The barley really adds a nice "chew" to the soup. Nancy

Tagliatelle bolognese with green salad and bruschetta to start. Yup, hit the Italian market today.

Pastitsio and a wilted spinach salad with lemon, feta, radishes, and pistachios. I used those watermelon radishes. They are great in a salad.

I made Tim's carnitas Wed. Night for my English students and they went crazy for them. That is such a good recipe. I did it in the pressure cooker again but didn't put the whole orange in, just the juice and some peel. I also put 2 bones in from the butcher. I asked for pig feet but they may have been veal. I asked for 1 and he said "but they are free". The broth is amazing. I used some in the black beans I made as a side and also in a stir fry last night. I still have quite a bit left. Any ideas? I would bathe in it, it is seriously that good.
Mary
PS. Watermelon radishes? Please elaborate.

Watermelon RadishesI actually got one because this salad called for 3 radishes and I was only making a half batch. Nobody here is wild enough about radishes to eat up the rest of a bunch of 6. The watermelon radishes were bulk, so I could buy just 1. Ironically, they are tasty enough that a bunch probably would get eaten.

I guess Mary & I were both channeling Tim last night. I made his Chicken Paprikash again with mashed potatoes.
