I got out those black lentils again (30 minutes in the pressure cooker, no soaking). I didn't have the patience to follow a recipe tonight so I fried some onions, curry leaves, Patak's curry paste and a bit of cumin and put that into the beans along with some creamed spinach and lemon juice. We had it with some naan that I got from my Indian grocer's freezer.

I just happen to have a gift certificate but don't know if I should purchase the $129 special or the $179 cement mixer. Maybe we could ask on another thread.

Dinner came from the freezer-shrimps sauteed with garlic oil and black pepper, butternut filled raviolis and green beans. It was basically heat and eat. Tasty though. I wanted a brown butter-sage bit for the pasta, but finding fresh sage around here right now would have been too much work.

This week is restaurant week in Denver ($52.80 per couple at over 300 restaurants) and last evening I went to ChoLon Bistro ( my 3rd restaurant week dinner this week) and had a fabulous dinner....we might have to go there when you all come to Denver in the Fall.

Grilled flatiron steak, rice, asparagus, strawberries. Tempranillo wine. We are sort of on a kick to try new red varietals (new to us).

pumpkin and sweet potato curry soup, lamb spiedini, back ribs, glazed carrots, rapini (brocolli rabe). And dessert made by a friend's 12 year old daughter that was delish (trifle).
Oh, and a few bottles of vino...

I've been longing to be in Denver this week...although I did have a wonderful meal with out-of-town friends at my restaurant the other night, and my EC was kind enough to give me the employee discount, although technically it's only for two people and only for when we're not busy (and we were slammed that night).

For those of you who are scratching your head at the price, 5280 is Denver's altitude, hence the price.
