Bad news indeed.
Unsurprising news, though. When Sachs took over, he dropped a lot of professional chef writers, shortened articles, and started featuring advertisers in articles. This caused many of the magazine's long-term subscribers to drop their subscriptions (I did, after 10 years). And I can't imagine that the format and content changes got them a lot of new subscribers. Once those changes were made, it was inevitable that Saveur would follow in Gourmet's footsteps.
Besides, it's a bad time for magazines in general.
