We did a dead tree sweep a few years ago to reduce our dead tree shelving by half. What I realized about the magazines is that I never really used them. I used their website at the time, and the magazines were much less user friendly. I've let that lapse, and have the few real 'keepers' in my recipe app. I now have most of my cookbooks in dead tree format, and use eatyourbooks.com to find the recipes. This is a great arrangement. I supplement it with web searches, often with 'serious eats' thrown in to the search term
Going to do another sweep again soon, reduce it by even more. The number of works of fiction I am willing to re-read is very very low (With so many great books out there I haven't read, I am loathe to read one twice, same thing for movies), the last bits of fiction will go. Along with the few remaining professional books I hold on to without good reason. Soon, it will almost exclusively be art books, cookbooks and maybe some woodworking books.
