Oh, very interesting. ATK has a huge amount of goodwill, it will be interesting to see if the consumers tie that goodwill to the ATK name or to Chris Kimball. I'd hope that ATK has done their research homework and knew what it was attached to, but companies don't always act rationally.

It's been interesting to observe the CK adulation and almost universal lamenting about how terrible it is that he's leaving. I wonder if that would be the case if those people read the NYT (I think) article from a few years back that talked not only about his most recent marriage but also how aloof he apparently is to most of the test kitchen staff. Not to mention the fact that the reason they couldn't come to an agreement on a contract could easily have been because his compensation requirements were exhorbitant. Emilie

So, who runs ATK if they're squeezing him out? I thought he was the boss.

So ...
... with him gone, will they hire Kenji back?
... are you applying for a job there again, Lindsay?

Pretty sure Kenji is more than happy to be gone, and as for me, not in a million years.

The "contract dispute" sounds like a convenient excuse to me. I bet he wanted out. New wife, new life....

Back when I did my first contact work in my teens, I doubled the hourly rate for work I didn't like, figuring they wouldn't go for it. All I proved is that my undoubled rate was way too low Yah, I figure he set an unrealistic figure, if they pay it ok, if they don't even better.
