Read an interesting tidbit today that the owner of Rancho Gordo beans (I'm sure that everyone here knows of them--incredible beans) said that to tell when a bean is done, you blow on it and it wrinkles. Anyone ever tried this? |

I have yet to try Rancho Gordo beans because I'm afraid I will then have another expensive addiction. I've never heard about the wrinkles thing, either. I might make a mess o' beans today just to try it. |

Then, trying to dispute it (naturally!), I started blowing on beans every 5 minutes, long before they were done, and, sure enough, one wrinkled when there was just a hint of crunchiness in the middle. Still had another 10 or 15 minutes to go. (had to be when I was in college eating all those beans, and trying to dispute everything!). |
