Hi, But what can you call me? I mean other than that! ![]() How do your oblivious friends refer to your food centric values? What would you like to be called? Tim |

I agree, Foodie seems so 90's. It's right up there with "The Wife". OR Lady Friend, uuggh. Most of my friends might call me food obsessed or some might say a good cook. Those are ok with me. |

My friends often say I'm a gourmet cook/baker although I'm not fond of "gourmet." A few have referred to me as a chef, although I always point out that I have neither the training nor experience to be called that. A few people call me foodie and a few even say food snob, and I can't really argue with that. I'd like to be called "independently wealthy" or alternatively, "obscenely wealthy." Oh, we're talking about food. Here are ones I don't like: Gourmand - conjures up images of bald, fat, wheezy British dudes. Gourmet - sounds like I'm a fuss budget with fru-fru garnishes on every plate. Foodist - pretentious. I guess "cooking or baking enthusiast" comes close because it doesn't have connotations about how good I am (or am not). But it's also cumbersome. Just don't call me late to dinner! |

Tim wrote: Hi, But what can you call me? A perfectionist. ![]() Uhm, no one really refers to me with any of those terms...I've heard my dad refer to me as a gourmet, but most often I hear him(whether I actually hear, or people say ...."you dad said you are a good cook"), I think I am with Darcie, passionate enthusiast. Harrison, now there's a reason/name..."mom, whats for dinner?" |

Tim, My friends say "When's dinner?" Actually, I'm on some rental company's website somewhere as a professional chef. I rented a house from them and blogged dinner there, and didn't have the heart to tell them that I was an amateur. |

I just say I love to cook and am very interested in food. All those other things sound so... ick. Food nut is o.k. though. If I need a title I would have to go for that. Mary |
