My idea of a good Margarita:
3 shots premium tequila 1/2 shot triple sec juice of one large lime 1/2 tsp sugar ice
Mix the first 4 ingredients. Pour over the last one. Sip.

My mom loves Sangria and I think it was last year she asked for a good recipe and I never even thought to look to see if CI had a recipe. How cheap of a wine do you use? I refuse to answer on the grounds that it might incriminate me.

Wino, look away.
Todd, I use an under $10 bottle, which would be under $6 in most US states. I'm sure three buck chuck would be fine in this.

Franzia @ 2.50 US per liter wherever wine is sold is fine for Sangria. If you really want to splurge, Barefoot cellars at $6 per 750.

JB, Wino,
Best wines for sangria are otherwise decent, middling fruity wines which have oxidized somewhat. I used to have a case of magnums of some kind of random spanish table wine which had been shipped to the USA upright, ruining it. Made the best sangria ever.
My sangria recipe:
1 750ml bottle of red wine 1 tbs light brown sugar (or raw sugar) 3 tbs brandy 1½ cups mixed sliced fruit Large glass or plastic jar
Put all ingredients in the jar. Stir or shake to mix well and dissolve the sugar. Put in fridge for at least 2 hours, and up to 3 days, before serving.

Made some crepes in honor of Bastille Day. filled some with mushrooms, leeks and chicken others with blackberries and sweetened yogurt. Eating at close to 9:30 PM felt even more French. At least now I have a stack of crepes in the freezer to be used at will.
