I'll be in Seattle the entire week of Sept. 9th. Anyone have good recommendations?

You probably can't go wrong with any of Tom Douglas' restaurants. Check them out before you go...each has a different slant. Serious Pie is great, as is Lola, Etta's, Dahlia Lounge, etc, etc. We just went to a little bistro in Queen Anne area....Betty. Loved it. Sister restaurant is Crow. Also, if you read Orangette blog...they have Delancey and Essex that would probably be worth a try. I can do a little more checking with my foodie son if you are interested. He lives there whereas I'm about an hour out and don't get in much! So many choices.

I had a good meal at the Purple Café and Wine Bar on 4th Avenue. Tulios in the same area was also quite good (Italian). I also had some good seafood at one of the places in Pike Place Market, but can't recall the name of the place...it was up on the 2nd floor overlooking the waterfront. It wasn't a fancy place, but the food was tasty. I was at a conference so was on foot and did not have much time, so I couldn't say that there wouldn't be better options out there.

Oh, right!

At the Pike Place Market, don't miss the piroshki bakeries. There used to be two of them; I think there's one now, but it's still terrific and an excellent quick lunch. There's also a couple of really good tea houses. A couple blocks up from the Market is the Crumpet Shop, for a delicious if not particularly healthful breakfast.

We've stayed in the past on Capitol Hill. Near there were a bunch of good restaurants on 15th Ave.; I don't remember names, but I do remember having too many to choose from.

Rethinking this a bit. My last trip to Minneapolis after my first two choices could not give me a reservation for 12 I ended up at a GREAT "family style" restaurant that was on Darcies list. It was a HUGE hit and great team building experience. Everyone raved about the food and the experience. Had a big lazy Susan in the middle of the table loaded with food. I will have the same 12 with me in WA.

Anything like that to be had in Seattle?

Frank, if you can give me your email address, I'll send you an article that was in the Seattle paper that gives you some ideas for family-style dining spots. Some of them, like Delancy, only offer that style once a month or so, but it will give you some ideas of places to start. The article isn't too recent, but you can contact the restaurants to see if they still offer that option.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the Pink Door earlier. Don't think they have family-style, but it is in the Pike Place Market and a great spot with good, reliable food. Most everyone has liked it....

I've been in Seattle all week, went to the Crab Pot this evening with 7 other folks. It's one of those places that pours out buckets full of seafood with corn, potatoes, etc. Out on the table. It was excellent!
