My friends have traveled there; I'll ask if they have any recommendations.

You are hitting the high spots...did you ever make it to Colorado Springs?

Long enough to land rent a car and drive to Trinidad I did stay the night one evening waiting for an early flight home, was too tuckered out to leave the hotel once there, grabbed something in the lobby and went to bed. Had some WONDERFUL pizza in Trinidad! http://www.yelp.com/biz/bella-luna-pizzeria-trinidad

Loved the Yelp reviewer that said:

"Sex Change Capital of the World..... and home of a one good pizza joint"

They need to add that second part to the former tag line of "sex change capital of the world" or combine the two to "come for the sex change, stay for the pizza" because Trinidad is being reassigned in my book as a solid place to hit up for a pizza."

I should clarify...I was there for work! Lest Wino should get any ideas...

Reminds me of this story from awhile back.

From my friend Ann:
"The Brown Bottle is an Italian place in an old hotel downtown. Check out the reviews----a little funky decor as I remember."

As you recall the last place we dined together also had "funky" decor...the food however was great...the company even better!
