Post subject: | A "CHOPPED"Christmas Party |
I have a weekend free this December because of a scheduling conflict of Christmas parties, so I am thinking about having 7 friends over for a party. This will be a modified Chopped Party. There will be 4 teams of 2, each randomly picked. There will also be 12 main food items and pantry items. Each team will pick 3 of the main food items and make an appetizer out of those ingredients plus pantry items. Each team will work in the kitchen one at a time and present their dish before the next team goes into the kitchen. I figure this will make for an interesting night. |

That sounds like a lot of fun. If we just lived a little closer, close but not close enough! Laurie |

Do give the cooks time limits, or you could be eating at midnight. It sounds like a good time. BeckyH |

I wish I could share the enthusiasm of others, but this actually sounds stressful to me...kind of like my practical exams in culinary school. I might suggest you find a way to ensure people aren't stressed by having to work outside their comfort zone. Or, am I missing something? Amy |

My ingredients are going to be very basic. Cheeses, Meats, Crescent roll dough, etc. This isn't going to be gourmet cooking. |

My party was tonight and boy was this fun. The foods were: Cheese Bratwurst, Cooked crumbled sausage and Peanut butter. Egg noodles, Pie dough and crescent rolls. Pepper jelly, Asian grilling paste and grilled antipasti vegetables. We also had onion, mushrooms, green pepper, garlic, green onions, scallions and cheese that we could use. The combinations that were randomly picked were: Peanut butter, Pie crust and Asian grilling paste. Bratwurst, pepper jelly and egg noodles. Sausage, antipasti vegetables and crescent rolls. I liked the Bratwurst, Pepper Jelly and noodles the best. My least favorite was the dish I helped prepare and that was the Peanut butter, pie dough and grilling paste. We were all working together in different areas of the kitchen, so the food all was cooked within 10 minutes of each other. Everybody had fun and when we were finished eating, we played two games of Farkle and now it's time for me to do the dishes. |
