I've made several of the recipes that Bittman has shown on his NYTimes videos in the last few weeks and really liked them. The tortilleras with shrimp, the cabbage, chestnuts and shrimp and a few I'm sure I made but can't quite remember.... Do you guys check these out and try them? BeckyH |

Becky, I download the podcasts, watch them, say, hmm, that looks good but haven't made anything. They certainly are all simple and do look tasty. If you O.K. it I will give it a try. Mary |

I made Mexican tofu chocolate pudding from one of his recent columns. It was delicious, and we're not huge tofu fans. I thought there was a bit too much cinnamon. I have tried a few of his other recipes that I didn't like so much. There was a ginger chutney that was dreadful--the whole thing went in the trash. Marilyn |

Mary, (don't laugh) where do you get the Bittman podcasts? Lynn |

I just got his new cookbook based on how he now eats and how he lost so much weight. The book is called "Food Matters" and I suspect most of his writing now is along the lines of his newly found healthy and simple diet. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet. |

Not laughing at all. I get the podcasts from itunes. It is a video podcast, he does a recipe in a couple minutes. I think the recipes are all available at the New York Times but they are usually so basic that you don't really need a recipe. I did make his cornstarch ice cream and it was very good. I was a bit surprised but I was making it for small children and didn't want to do eggs (or a big production). Mary |

Roasted a chicken last night in his glaze of honey, OJ and cumin. It's good stuff. I reduced the OJ some because the last time I tried this it was too soupy. Next time I want to take the time to marinate the bird some too. BeckyH |
