Lisa in South Florida here. I've been on CI for a number of years under the same handle, but I seem to go through phases of posting a lot and not posting much at all. I went back recently and I couldn't figure out what wasn't the same. I am glad to find a link to this board, and thankful to Fuzzy for setting it up.

I also recently went thought a job change (I am in week 2 of the new job). I was very lucky to find something but am of course the only one in the new office this week. I am hoping this position will be less stressful than my previous.

What else... live in boyfriend, two cats, weakness for old cooking methods and vintage recipes.

Glad to see you all again, and I hope to be more active here.

Hi to all of you! It's Nancy here, using the same screen name as the CI board. We were traveling over the Christmas holidays and I just got around to reading my favorite blogs, the Fuzzy's being one of them, and lo and behold, found you all here. How serendipitous!

I look forward to catching up with you all. Great to be here.
Nancy

Me too. I feel like I've just stumbled on the perfect "virtual cooking community", sort of like the one that we all talked about on the CI BB last winter (as a hoot).
And look what Josh cooked up for us instead - woohoo to Josh and all of you.
And many thanks for welcoming me.
I haven't been as avid a cook/baker as you all, but I still treasure the knowledge and everything else you all are willing to share.

Wow. It's like old home week.

I'm Tiffany ... I used to be quite active once upon a time on the CI boards. My participation dwindled a lot after I had my daughter due to post-pregnancy health complications and severe PPD. Over the past few years, I've drifted in and out there, but the old spirit of the board seemed to be missing. It's nice to see so many of the old faces here.

I was laid off from my corporate job as a business analyst in early 2006 and decided to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a hairdresser. Salon life is quite different from corporate America and I can honestly say I have never been happier ... plus, I now have a lot more time to cook, which is another huge plus. Donna, my partner, and I celebrated 11 years together in early December and our "baby" turned four on December 9. So, life is good here in my little corner of Florida.

Rose - your baby is beautiful ... and Frank, I wish you many congratulations on your adoption plans!

Tiffany,

Good to see you here! What's it like being queer parents in Florida? It never seemed to me to be the friendliest state for that kind of thing.

Good assumption, Josh; typically, it's not the most friendly state. However, Donna and I live in Gulfport, which is a diverse artist's community of 12,000 also known as "P-town South." About 1/3 of our population is gay and our city Human Rights Ordinance guarantees equal rights regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. So, we are quite insulated from the usual Florida prejudice.

Hi All -

The KING is back.

I've been absent from CI's board for a long time for many of the reasons I'm sure you all have: it just went to shit. [Can I say that here?]

I'm still living in DC and married to Judy. Jobwise I'm consulting in the biotech field but not enjoying that so I'm looking around for something new. I've been cooking away and getting fat in the process.

Hi all, it's good to see so many old friends. Rose, your baby is beautiful. Amy, Kate from Boston, Sunny, Lou, Rhonda, Frank and everyone else, it does my heart good to hear what's going on with you. Thank you Josh for taking the time and effort to put up this site.

I was never a huge poster at CI, but lately it's seemed like a more effort than it's worth. Plus I hate when entities/people solicit your opinion and then get offended when you express it.

Pre-holidays I was moving my office and a library at work, plus we're doing some construction on our house in Evanston, IL--that's why I wasn't able to check in earlier.

I'm still employed, but DH has been out of work for about 9 months. I kind of wish it were the other way around, so I could do more cooking and baking. I did a lot of baking for the holiday, plus 9 batches of toffee and some spicy peanut brittle. Thankfully I was able to give almost all of it away to appreciative recipients, and after a brief respite, I'm ready to jump in again.

Happy New Year,
Marilyn
