I am really looking forward to posting on this board. I have been mostly lurking on the CI board for a while now. I am porterbl1 over there. I am excited to see a lot of my favorite people over here. The board looks really good fuzzy. Thank you for letting me know, Amy!
Frank...the adoption thing is so wonderful! How lucky those girls will be. Please keep me up to date on your progress.

Hi, I'm Gayl. Was gbs on the CI forum, then they changed it inexplicably to an old name I used when I had done a trial membership years ago, gharborwa. I hate my new moniker here, but was in a hurry and needed 6 letters.....hopefully, I can think of something better one of these days....I've gotten so much invaluable info from all of you on the CI forum, I really appreciate that and hope to glean much more info from you here. Thanks, Fuzzy!

Hi everybody, it's "Katiepie," aka Kate here. I guess I wasn't as disenchanted with the CI boards as the rest of you it just seems like it's not very active so no reason to check in. Yet, I keep doing it. Force of habit I guess.
Just finished baking and packaging holiday treats and hoping to distribute today, despite negative temps here in Chicago. Tried Pennie's caramels for the first time and decided to roll them and dip in melted chocolate and sprinkle Himalayan Pink salt on top. People better appreciate them! Boy, that recipe makes a lot of caramel! My hands were sore from rolling.
Anyway, good to see every here!

Hi Everyone Thanks to Amy for referring me to this new bulletin board. it is great to reconnect with old friends. I, too, occassionally lurk on the CI BB but don't bother to post...I have missed you all. Congratulations to those with new babies and those in the adoption process....lucky kids! In August (actually on the 29th when the Democratic National Convention was over) I retired from my job of 22 years as head of the CO Hotel & Lodging Assoc. it was fun to go out with a big party with all of my Democratic friends. Since retiring, I have been busy remodeling the basement and doing other projects around the house (which seem to be never ending). Once the holidays are over, I look forward to some R&R and a little travel. Glad to be connected to you all again, ilene Gardnercook

Am I allowed to join in now that I've been in civilian status for a few months? I've missed you all, and since my new website involves antitrust issues and I'm dealing with economists and lawyers, I've been able to resume cooking and food as a hobby -- and I have to confess am finally beginning to enjoy it again. Three years of catering and four years of repurposing food articles and taste testing actually does wear.
Thank you Fuzzy for inviting me to join you, and creating a board I feel comfortable posting on. And Frank, I've thought a lot about you and those girls. We just adopted a rescue dog who has become the love of our lives--and while adopting two daughters is certainly a far greater magnitude, this recent year and Nellie has certainly reminded me to focus on the one feature of cooking and good food that never got old -- there's no better way to share and show your love.
Happy Holidays Everyone!
Lindsay

Lindsay Allowed, encouraged, and welcomed! One benefit of a pound puppy...if it doesn't work out, you have options not available to those of us who adopt people.
