Post subject:  Small electric hand mixer - PLEASE!!

I have three small hand mixers of varying ages and conditions - I AIN'T HAPPY! :(

My ideal: a very slow initial speed (high priority), smooth and quiet (not critical but...).

The speed issue is the initial flinging of ingredients into the air wherein I operate in a cloud of stuff despite working next to my vent operating on high. Usually, I whisk the liquids by hand but I like to add the dry with the mixer in one hand, etc.

Am I a little toooooo particular about this :?:  :o

Thanks for being kind . . . .

What brands do you have? I have an ancient Cuisinart that I don't use often. I seem to remember that either ATK or Serious Eats rated the KA on top.

We have the KA from around 10 years ago, but I recall my sweetie being not entirely thrilled with it.

This got me looking around at the ratings. It seems that KA and Cuisinart still come out on top for "midrange" mixers, the reviewers are all putting Breville on top of the high end mixers. That doesn't surprise me, when I think about it. The last few years Breville has been my go-to brand for small kitchen appliances. It looks like the price is somewhere upwards of 150 US.

I love their Smart Oven. The food processor is the best I've ever owned. They have recently bought Nespresso, Joule, Smoking Gun, and others. If I were in the market for a new one, I'd look to Breville.

Thanks for this extra effort. While this tool gets high reviews, one knock seems to be the rubber bumpers wearing out easily and the company lagging on a remedy. I think I will opt for using my whisks (heavy and light) and then move from that point to the mixer machines I have. Mainly, I am irked by the fine flour dispersing into the air despite my use of my evac fans, etc. I hope the whisks will give me more control. :D

When you add flour. Turn the mixer off and use it to stir the ingredients until just moistened. Then turn the machine back on. No need for an extra whisk.
