It is a good prep knife or short slicer for anything where you don't need the tip. Mine is a DP. I just used it to cut up 3 # beef, 1 # sausage, an onion, garlic, and a bell pepper. Chile tonight.

The knives are very similar and that is part of the problem. The TH-80 has scallops along the sides which makes slicing thick vegetables (potatoes, turnips, etc.) very easy because they slide away; not so with the JU65, those vegetable stick to the blade and, thus, slow me down. The knives are about the same length and super sharp (literally - I shaved hair off my arm with both knives straight out of the box!). My wife and I have forced ourselves to use the TH-80 for the past 3 weeks to try and get used to it but we actually want to use the JU-65. We wouldn't buy it again but I may just buy another JU-65 for when I'm flying in the kitchen. Did I not tell you it was broke ...

I have to say that the Mac TH 80 has been my all time fav knife. I never use my German knives anymore, and even the Global pales in comparison. Good to know that the JU65 is not worth it,as I was eyeing it too.

Frank,
Why is the "XE" $30 cheaper than the "Classic II"? They don't make it clear what the Classic has that the XE doesn't ...
