I’m looking for a new chocolate dessert that is not pie. I don’t know how I created a person who doesn’t like pie, but ......
Any ideas for something to serve with our Thanksgiving pies?

French Chocolate Mousse, Joy of Cooking, 1964 ed.: never fails, universally loved, incredibly smooth - my first love

I couldn't choose a favorite chocolate dessert. I'm not baking that favorite butterscotch pumpkin pie, because where I took it last year it was all eaten up, but the other pumpkin pie that was brought only had one piece eaten! So this year, I'm making a Crême Brulée Pumpkin Cheesecake. Something for those that don't really like pies, plus, it only has 1 c sugar in a 10" cake, plus that little bit burned on.

Sound interesting, or did you need chocolate?

She definitely NEEDS chocolate!
Thanks, Wino. Mousse is a strong possibility, but was trying to explore more options.

Some ideas:

- French silk tart
- chocolate bourbon bundt cake
- icebox cake
- the traditional German/Russian desser that involves shortbready cookies embedded in a chocolate paste roll, can't remember what it's called.
- chocolate & peanut butter mud pie

KAF has a chocolate and raspberry cake that is my favorite. Easy, taste great and keeps well. It is supposed to be 4 round 8" layers, but 2 are just fine. The first time I made it, I converted the recipe for 9" square pans (2 layers) made all 4 the second time and decided that 2 is better. I also did not use their frosting the first time and preferred it that way. I just used the mousse filling as the frosting. I'd use a simple ganache if I did not have enough mousse for the top. Here's the link in case you want it.https://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/chocolate-mousse-cake-with-raspberries-recipe
The fresh raspberries are nice because they bring acidity to cut the sweet, but it is great without them as well. You can tell I really like this cake.

Thanks to all of you for the suggestions. I will run them all by her and let her choose. But I will definitely keep these options for other days!
And, I have a lovely peanut butter pie recipe I totally forgot about....
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

The chocolate cake roll is easy, festive and can be filled with whipped cream, whipped ganache, buttercream, pastry cream (flavor of choice) etc. a fun way to serve it is to write the guests names on each slice in chocolate before you cut it, so everyone gets their own piece.
