My favorite is the CI Bittersweet Chocolate Mousse Cake. It can be made ahead and because it is so rich, it provides more servings than regular cakes. It is from 11/2002 issue. I also like the Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake from 11/2009. I personally preferred the Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake 3/2006 to the Sour cream one. I know I am also in the minority for this one as well, but I was not impressed by the Chocolate Walnut Tart and would not make it again, as opposed to the first 3 mentioned which are favorites.

Another vote for the Chocolate Sour Cream Bundt Cake.
Also, CI's Dark Chocolate Mousse is fantastic.

I've made the chocolate sour cream cake as rounds as well. And, my favorite filling is Pierre Herme's chocolate caramel ganache. God, now I'm craving it...

oh my...I thought it was you who first suggested the rounds but I don't remember anything about a chocolate caramel ganache. that sounds incredible! We really need an emoticon with the tongue hanging out.

My favorite has been the Bittersweet Chocolate Mousse Cake...I'm glad Alina knew which issue it was in!

Jean,

I think it was me who made that suggestion. And, I have a pdf for the ganache recipe if you want it. PM me your email address and I'll send it to you.

I really love the walnut tart, too. Which is strange, because I am really not a big fan of walnuts. I'd add the Pots de Crème (Nov. 2006), Flourless Chocolate Cake (March 1998), and Decadent Hot Chocolate (Feb. 2005).

I liked the old fashioned cake too (yummy icing!), although I think my favourite is actually the double chocolate cake fom Epicurious (I do my own chocolate icing, not the recipe that they give). The sour cream chocolate bunt cake is good too, but IMO needs to be served with some vanilla ice cream (or whipped cream) and a drizzle of sauce (raspberry is good, as is chocolate or caramel). Otherwise it's a bit plain. It makes phenomenal mini cupcakes though. I do a big piped swirl of chocolate icing on top, so the ratio is 1:1 almost. They come out flat on top, which makes this easy.

I have been making the Flourless Chocolate Cake for several years in a row, served with raspberry coulis. It is easy, very chocolatey, and good to make ahead.

The Flourless Chocolate Cake is really good with orange sorbet, too.
