I'll be there on the 19th so won't be able to swing it again so soon (understatement). If you go to Berringer's try to get into the special back room. You have to pay something but they bring out the good stuff. They invited us 'cause we said we were from Switzerland... guess that made us sound all sophisticated (suckers).

News that is not good for this meetup, but is good for me - I just received a promotion at work, so I will likely be unable to break away to go anywhere. We are very short handed at this time (down 33% from full levels, and expecting it will take a few months to get new people hired/trained), so I will be logging in extra hours and really can't commit to even helping organize an event at this time. I hate to back out at this late date but until I win the lottery the job must remain near the top of the priorities :|

Darcie: I understand. I'm facing the same problem; I'm president of a struggling company and need to put stuff for that company ahead of cooking. Like, I can't skip this conference in early September; it's part of staying Mr. Famous Database Person so that I have a career. Oh, and congratulations.

So that sounds like Kathy, Pete, Amy and maybe Frank and KSS (Amy, can you really get away during September?). Maybe a couple other people.

Given that size, I think we should just keep this loose instead of going crazy booking a lot of stuff. I have friends in the wine & food industry, and can book tours for us on a couple weeks notice.

Would people be able to change to September 18-19? That way I wouldn't be out of town immediately before the meetup, and could more easily do last-minute planning. If not, I can make Sept 11-12 happen, but I will NOT be available on the 10th.

I have to say it would be much easier for me to meet up during our off season, which basically runs from late October until T-Day. If that makes it more doable for Darcie and Josh, I say we move it. If not, I'll still have to say it depends. I most certainly could not make it the weekend of the 18th-19th...that's Blues and Brews festival here and I'll be very busy.

If not the originally planned weekend then Oct 15-16 or 22-23 would be best for us. We have another trip I'm trying to schedule for the fall and I want/need to keep the trips a few weeks apart to keep the work craziness down. My options for the other trip are Sept 6-10 or Oct 7-12.

I'm planning to book the next trip in a week or so (waiting for the next cc billing cycle) so if we can lock in a date for San Francisco in the next few days that would really help.

PS: Josh, I notice you're using a Sat-Sun convention for the date options. I'm using a Fri-Sat option, assuming that most people would need to return home on Sunday and fly out on Wednesday or Thursday. Typically the meets we've attended have kicked off on Thursday and people disappear throughout the day on Sunday.

All,

Added a survey. Please fill it out and we'll see if we can find a new date. Note that I still need to check with my sweetie.
