I wanted to make tacos last night and wished I had bought some of Penzeys taco seasoning. I had another envelope from the grocery store and used that instead. I plan to order some from Penzeys especially now that they're gifting a ¾ cup bag for free right now.
Should I get the Bold or the Original or both?
And, is theirs any better than the usual suspects in the stores?

I've bought the original and we quite liked it, better than the store envelopes. My kids and hubby love the chicken taco seasoning. It's not one I enjoy but they love it.
Our favourite recipe however is the CI ground beef taco, I mix the seasoning up ahead (with salt) and measure out 4 slightly rounded tablespoons per recipe. And I make 4-6 pounds at a time and freeze the cooked meat, we just had some last night on top of natchos for a quick dinner.

I like the bold a lot; better than the original.

If you have access to a Mexican market, aciote paste makes a superior "taco seasoning" for fish, chicken, or pork tacos. As an alternative.

I make my own mix and keep it in a ziplock for tacos or meat seasoning for salads:
Ingredients for jar of seasoning. It is as good as, or better, than most seasonings you can buy, and you know exactly what is in there:
Mix well; store in airtight jar. Use 3 1/2 tablespoons per pound of ground meat. Makes close to 1 cup (enough for four pounds).

1/2 cup chili powder
3 tablespoons ground cumin
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons ground pepper

I forgot to say that I got this recipe off of a blog; unfortunately, I can't remember which one to give credit. I'll try to search for that.
