That is why I only do this once a year and have no interest in catering. Once a year is fun, and I get to try out new things. If I had to do it every weekend I wouldn't enjoy it at all.☺

Lisa - What is a biltong cutter :?:
Many of our clients are from South Africa, we love biltong, and have had many different recipes custom-made by local butchers according to their specifications but I have never heard of a special cutter :!: :?: :?:
Oh yes, WOW :!: WHAT A GIANT EFFORT on your part; absolutley wonderful!
Wines, you say :?: :?:

Hi Wino,

A biltong cutter is a of stacked, bolted together pair of wooden blocks with a knife attached so that you get good leverage to cut the biltong. Asher got a biltong maker for his 40th birthday (custom made by a friend) and we bought a cutter when we were in SA. There isn't anyone currently making them in the US.

Here is an example. Ours is smaller and darker wood but is otherwise pretty close. You put the biltong on the smaller block and slice it with the knife.

There is much wine. We put out at least 30 empties. I always wonder what the recycling people think of us the day after this party.

Kids in our neighborhood collect empties for fund raising - they LOVE us!

Thanks for the photo, I've shared it with our friends! :D

Now I'm feeling lazy for eating store bought pie as a last minute afterthought.
