I stopped by Penzey's today and used the coupon for a $16+ jar of cardamom seeds. Sweet!

Great idea, Emilie! I was trying to think of something to get with it, and even took an inventory (been a while since I did this!) of my Foodsaver bags in my freezer spice box, and was surprised at some of the things I was very low on. I actually have about 3/4 c of cardamom seeds, that I got at some super cheap price at a local Indian grocer, before the price went way up (crop failure, maybe?), but something like that I could get more of - I just vac-seal them, with an oxy-adsorbant in it, and they will last forever, or almost.

Dave,

Guatemala is the worlds biggest exporter of cardamom*, and they got hit my a hurricane last year that devastated the crop.

I just happened to remember Lisa's post today when I was trying to put together my Penzey order. Just great to get a free jar of smoked paprika.
