Fuzzy posted the name of a magazine devoted to cheesemaking, but I am wondering if anyone knows of a good basic reference book. I made an impulse buy of various cheese cultures and need something to guide me. Thanks!

Hi Darcie,

I don't have any book suggestions because the only Cheesemaking book I have is from the 70s and probably isn't up to date or easy to find. But I did find this site [clickity] when I was looking for information on making marscapone. My tartaric acid is on it's way and i can't wait to try it out!

Darcie,

I have found 200 Easy Homemade Cheese Recipes to be a good book, though I probably haven't made even 10% of the recipes.

And thanks for that link, Lisa. A lot of interesting info on there, not just about cheese.

The thing about cheese-it hasn't changed much over the years. Hundreds and hundreds of years. So a book from the 1970s will be fine, if that's all you can find. Check at the library.

I have Artisan Cheese Making at Home by Mary Karlin, and really enjoy it.

Darcie,

I have Ricki Carrol's Home Cheesemaking. I found it very beginner-friendly, and the recipes very reliable.
