I also really enjoyed the Stephanie Plum series.

So, two books I got for Christmas which are good foodie reading:

In At the Deep End: a narrative of how Jake Tilson went from being afraid of fish to seafood chef in 7 places (Venice, Sweden, Aberdeen, New York, Sydney, Tokyo and London). Designed and formatted by the author, it's quirky and artistic. The recipes are more interesting than useful; you mainly get it for the stories.

National Geographic's Food Journeys of a Lifetime: sort of a "500 places to eat before you die", it's a global tour of foodie locations. Gratifying to discover how many of them I'm already been to.

Anyone have anything new to add? Just got thru 2 by Adam Gopnik, "Paris to the Moon" and "The Table Comes First" but they weren't very easy, or fun, to read (for me). Always looking for new reading material, food related, and otherwise.
TIA!!!

Have I recommended http://www.amazon.com/Guernsey-Literary-Potato-Peel-Society/dp/0385340990? Loved this book! I rarely keep books, this is one I will re-read over and over.

So many stories within the story, made me laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time.
Am tempted to try and make a potato peel pie. Kind of.

Thanks, Jean. Got this as an eBook and absolutely loved it. And for any M.F.K. fisher fans--An Extravagant Hunger--which details her early writing life--is quite good.

I'm currently reading Judgement of Paris, a book about the famous 1976 wine tasting which so boosted California wines. As should come as no surprise, the movie Bottleshock was not terribly factual. Anyway, it's full of fascinating wine history. For example, I'm currently reading a condensed biography of Michael Grigch, who came to California as an illegal immigrant and founded one of Napa Valley's premier wineries.

Loved that book. And no, Bottleshock wasn't terribly factual, but it was entertaining.
