Hi Todd, I did see the top chef show with her. She seemed nice, actually. I have both books mentioned and like them a lot. I made doughnuts from the newer one and they were really good. Nancy

I bought my sister The Secrets of Baking for Christmas and she told me she really likes it so far.

I own The Secrets of Baking and, generally, have to agree with Kris. I tend to make more home-style desserts when I bake and rarely crack this book. That said, the ganache recipe is really good. I used it to make truffles once with great results. I haven't quite been able to bring myself to take this one to the used book store yet, but it is on the list (I have a new policy with cookbooks-I can't buy new ones without getting rid of old ones).
