This is now one of my favorite cookbooks, thanks to someone sending me xeroxed pages on TOBB.

So I reviewed it: http://www.fuzzychef.org/archives/The-A ... -2010.html

You want this book.

I'm glad to read a postive review of this book. I looked at it, but some of the reviews weren't good. I always hate to discount a book, because you don't know about the reviewer.

I worked in the "awl bidness" and we had many engineers and others from Saudi and the Middle East. They always brought the best lunches, and feasts.

The first time I had lamb was at an Algerian wedding; it was a whole lamb roasted on a spit all night. We were issued a plate and a knife, and we filed past, cut off what we wanted of the meat, and then the fruit vegetables yoghurt were laid out buffet style. It was soooooooo good.

Kss,

I can see that an inexperienced cook, or one unused to the unusual tastes of "real" arab food, might be put off by the cookbook. You should enjoy it.

Fuzzy, you have led me to SIN! I just (finally) got my copy of this book from BookCloseouts.com, for $14 plus shipping, and I think I'm seriously in love!!! This is a book that I think I might want to "cook through" just go through and cook everything, although there may be some objections from the others.

I love the different spice mixes, I'm starting to work on that tomorrow.

This is gonna be fun!

KSS,

As a warning, most of her recipes are "large family" portions. I made the mistake of making a double recipe of the zucchini dip and ended up with a half-gallon of it.

Thanks for the "heads up." I suspect that's just the way, though. We had a single SA engineer, and he was always bringing food for everyone. I suspect they make enough to share.
