Best Food Writing 2013 (a Xmas gift) blew away my meager expectations and turned out to be one of those ‘hard to put down’ great reads. These 48 essays from ‘food’ writers cover 7 broad areas including but not limited to home cooking, being a chef, personal reflections, the current state of gastronomy, and the role & life of the critic. Incredibly, almost every piece is captivating. One in particular stands out for me and that was the description by Karen Barichievy working as a private chef and her breakfast preparation for the ultra-rich prior to their fishing expedition in Scotland; from the quarterly, Fire & Knives. The writing and stories are excellent. Highly recommended and that is very rare from me ;) :lol:
