Has anyone ever made one of Chad Robertson's Tartine's recipes? I got Tartine Book #3 and, since I'm going stir-crazy from the weather, decided I needed a project, so decided to follow his rather involved process for baking breads. Just prepped the starter, which now sits for the next 2 days and then gets converted into a levain. But was wondering if anyone has ever followed his instructions and has any advice.

I got stuck on figuring out which book to buy, and ended up -- so far -- buying none of them. I don't do desserts, really, so I think that makes it #1 or #3?

I [clearly] haven't made it, but Cooked goes into quite a lot of detail Robertson's method and he was a big fan. I also did some research and it had quite a lot of enthused people, and sounded intriguing. I am pretty determined to try it.

Paul,

You need to branch into dessert...after all, you've got a little one who will develop a sweet tooth whether you like it or not.

Fwiw, I have the baking book and think that the directions are more complicated than they need to be.
