So I got Plenty More as a Christmas gift. I finally got around to trying a new recipe from it this week.

"Root vegetable mash with wine-braised shallots" already has me impressed with him. It's a strange recipe, and there were some parts of it I questioned (like the light spicing and lack of garlic) but I followed it except for using canned lentils. And it was surprisingly good. With cheese bread or eggs, it's even a whole meal.

So, more cooking from Plenty More.

My sweetie was out this morning for a rehearsal. So I took the opportunity to make the Spicy Scrambled Eggs, since they contain two things she won't eat, hot peppers and cilantro.

Verdict: so-so. These are just your basic curried scrambled eggs. If this is the only recipe you have for curried eggs, it's a pretty good one, and goes quite well on toast or naan. But if curried eggs is something you already know how to make, this recipe won't stimulate any new taste buds for you. Would be improved by the addition of cauliflower and/or diced potatoes.

Resurrecting an old thread here, but I bought the Random House deal with Ottlenghi, Jerusalem and Plenty More that was posted (Thanks to whoever posted it!). We need to add more vegetarian-style food to our diet. I just got them and am overwhelmed by choice. Any favorites I should particularly check out? I have to reread this thread, but just wanted to see what folks favorites are.

Thank you!

The turkey and corn meatballs with red pepper sauce are so delicious! I made a beet and walnut salad and bacon sautéed beet greens alongside. Wonderful. I definitely need to double next time though.

I tried this recipe tonight with only one minor substitution (parsley for cilantro in the sauce) and it was very good. Asher raved about it. I made cauliflower "rice" to go with it, and it also benefited from the sauce. I am looking forward to the leftovers!
