We've started a new feature at EYB, highlighting independent cookbook stores. You can check out the first post - which I believe is really close to Fuzzy - called the Omnivore (see link below). If you know of any good stores, I'd really appreciate hearing about them - we just need the address and the owner's name if you have it, although a website link would also be great. I'm trying to position this as not only letting people know about local stores - but also what might be fun places to visit on travels so it doesn't matter where they are. As much as I do appreciate Amazon's convenience, I really do want to help these guys survive. Thanks!

Lindsay,

Yeah, I was gonna suggest Omnivore.

Are you just looking for independant cookbook stores? What about general bookstores which have exceptional cookbook collections?

Anyway, your second could be "Powell's For Home and Garden" in Portland, which is their branch bookstore which is only cookbooks and gardening books: http://www.powells.com/locations/powell ... nd-garden/

For used and antiquarian cookbooks, there's Janet Jarvis Bookstore in Burbank: http://www.cookbookjj.com/

Don't know anything on the East Coast, sorry. Oh, wait! I don't, but Kris does. Kitchen Arts and Letters in NYC: http://www.kitchenartsandletters.com/

You totally owe me a free cookbook now. Or at least a pamphlet. ;-)

Here is a bookstore in Las Vegas that has over 20,000 used cookbooks in stock. I was there last November on my last trip to Vegas. It might be worth mentioning.

This was my favorite bookstore when I lived in Manhattan many years ago. It used to be called "Gryphon Bookshop." Now it's "Westsider Books." They sell rare and used books, including cookbooks:

Merstar, that's a lovely bookstore. I could spend my life in a place like that. Most of the small independent bookstores in KC are gone. Very sad day when Whistler's closed. Patrons held a wake. I really miss that place. I'm planning a trip to San Francisco to visit Omnivore and a few others.

This is a great store that hosts events with authors all the time. I took Jenny and Renee there when they came to Toronto and the store was having CK there the following week. We left our addresses and they mailed us autographed book plates for our CI books.
