I used my new book tonight and am quite pleased. I made a meatball from lamb and veal flavored with parsley, chillies, pine nuts, cumin, allspice, cinnamon and perhaps something else. It had a tahini lemon sauce with it. I served it with a green bean salad that had roasted peppers, parsley, onions and lemon peel. The dressing was olive oil with garlic, capers, cumin and coriander seeds fried in it. I served it with some Turkish flatbread that I brushed some olive oil on and sprinkled with Zahtar spice (I am sure I spelled that wrong) and some orzo. I think Iwill be using this book quite a bit.

Mary,

I'll have to look for it at the library. Although I imagine it's got a loooooong waiting list.

You can spell Zatar however you want, since the word is actually Arabic. You sure you put orzo on the flatbread though? The word "orzo" usually means either a grain or a pasta.

Just a poorly written sentence. We had orzo as well as bread but not on top of it. I forgot to mention we had a bunch of wine too, might have contributed to my writing skills. It would be a great book for you, some really nice vegetarian options. He has tons of recipes on line as well, no waiting lists.

Edited to add photos which I figured out how to do all by myself without using photobucket.

That green bean thing is really really nice looking, and hence makes me want to eat it.

That cookbook has been on my library request list since November 17! "97 holds on first copy returned of 29 copies."
