Really enjoying watching the old series circa 1963 on PBS tonight in honor of Julia's 100th birthday on Wednesday. Great stuff, some really funny ones with all the dropsies and mistakes. But she is always witty and keeps her cool.

Book arrived Friday and I'm really enjoying reading it. Spitz has nailed this book on Julia. I've read most of what's been published and this really does add more color and history to her wonderful, and sometimes troubled, history. I'm up to page 165 and they're just moving to France. At 550+ pages there's a lot more to read but so far, I highly recommend it. I wasn't so sure at the start with all the family history and history of Pasadena but it does pay off and interesting in a historical aspect. He really paints a picture of her early life albeit in many pages of details. And bragging rights - my husbands Aunt, Jo Duff, is quoted a few times!!!

"Dearie" arrived yesterday. I read the prologue and I'm hooked. This is the kind of book I could sit down and read cover to cover but having my grandsons here really cuts down on my reading time.
