Fight's on!!!! Rachel Ray and Gwenyth Paltrow are going to dispute this today on Rachel's show. Other c/b authors as well, according to GMA this a.m.

Bobby Flay and Anne Burrell were on the Today Show this morning. They're not disputing that there are ghost writers, just disputing their role alluded to by Moskin who made it sound like the recipes weren't created by the chefs.

I saw the segment on Today and it seemed to me that they had a problem with the term "ghost writers" and preferred to call them collaborators....Flay and Burell said that all of the recipes are definitely their recipes, but needed someone to tweak them for presentation in a book and also to take their stories and write them in a way that would be worthy of publication. Both Flay and Burell credit their collaborators on the cover of their books.

Most celebrity books of any kind are written by hired writers.

Like, you don't think all the candidates' books which came out last presidential election were actually written by them, do you? With the whole crew on the campaign trail 6 days a week?

Given what fiction writers are being paid these days, I'd bet that ghost-writing is steadier and better-paying work.
