I like Crescent. She's a good basic recipe writer full of good sense and wisdom. Let me know what you think of the book. We're big bean eaters and I'm always on the lookout for new recipes

I have her Soup and Bread Cookbook. It has some very good bean recipes. In fact, I've made her Black-Eyed Pea Soup/Stew with Arkansalsa many years for New Year's Day.

Yeah, I don't have Soup and Bread anymore but I wrote down several of the recipes and they've been adapted into standards for me.

She's also a terrific children's book author and very personable: http://www.dragonwagon.com/

My review copy just arrived this morning (we get sent books to index on Eat Your Books, lucky me!) and the recipes look great. My 16 yo daughter has decided to be mainly vegetarian, not on moral grounds since she will occasionally eat chicken, but she doesn't like how meat makes her feel. So I think this book is going to be great for upping her protein intake. Though as a keen baker I don't think I'll be rushing to the desserts section.
