I cannot remember where I heard about this book, but was intrigued and checked it out of the library. Am I glad I did!

I had a day of PT and doctor appointments, so spent a LOT of time waiting today. I thoroughly scanned the book, and it's on my "to buy" list.

It's not your average cookbook. It's built around the various sauces and condiments of Mexican cooking, and gives you suggestions on how to use them. Kinda like a Mexican version of James Peterson's Sauces.

Really well laid out, lots of tips and great photography. Not an "haute cuisine" book, but that's rarely what I'm looking for in books of this nature.

Thanks - I am always looking for Mexican cookbooks.

Hope you are healing quickly. I also had to go to the dr today, got a Kenalog shot as a first try at shoulder problem. We'll see how it goes...so far no good. :(

Thanks Darc...healing not going as well as I'd like, but we'll see.

May your shoulder feel better soon.

Amy,

That sounds really promising for me, actually. I'll see if the SFPL has it.

Thanks, Amy!

Doesn't take much to convince me to buy another Mexican book! I just ordered it new on Amazon for 12.99+3.99; however, it said only 12 are available, and all the rest of the sources are much more, so hurry.

I hope your both of your recoveries go smoothly.

And me with a bigger bookshelf and more space. Hmmm...

Mary

PS yes, please both of you, hope you heal quickly. Shoulders are nasty places for injuries. I had bursitis once and had to be very brave.

Okay, which one of you bought the last cheap/new copy on Amazon? ;)

I just got an email that the copy I ordered through "bookcloseouts" this morning was no longer available.

Guess I'm going to have to suck it up and buy the free shipping version directly from Amazon.

Those 12 must have gone fast!

Just think, Amy, you'll have an excuse to buy another book (to get the $25 for free shipping)! LOL

Thank-you so much, Amy - that book is a treasure! I have made a number of the recipes out of it already, and have many more I want to make, for sure. There are many recipes using chipotle mecos and moras, as well as a few using passillas de Oaxaca - all delicious, smoky, chiles. The mole section looks wonderful, and I have made just two of the many pepians, which were delicious, and the black beans with chipotles and avocado leaves was also very good. And I just bought more tomatillos today, to make some more things from this book.
