Becca,

I'm impressed with you for cooking this stuff ... for me, it falls under the heading of "way too much work". Keep taking pictures!

Okay Fuzzy. Here is the picture of the Birthday Layer cake I made for my daughter's 13th birthday. I have never eaten the Funfetti boxed cake that inspired it, so I can't say how it compared. I wasn't a big fan though. I think all the food dye in the sprinkles gave it a slightly bitter taste. Then again, I am not a fan of most vanilla/vanilla combinations. It was pretty though, except for the brown edges visible in the smushed bottom layer. It was distracting. Next time I will try to assemble it so that the brown edges do not show, or just trim them.

I am making the pistachio layer cake today for mini-Christmas at my sister's Tuesday. I had to track down the pistachio paste and pistachio oil. It is a pistachio cake layered with lemon curd, milk crumb, and pistachio frosting. She says it was a bestseller right off the bat. I can't wait to try it.

I saw that recipe, and it does sound incredibly good. The combination of lemon and pistachio sounds fantastic!

Beautiful cake Becca.

The author was on "The Splendid Table" today. She has a voice that goes with those cakes.
