Has anyone seen this book? It came up on my list of recommended books on Amazon, and I just took it out of the library. It looks fabulous. It's basically Japanese small plates, and the recipes are very interesting, and mainly pretty approachable in terms of what ingredients I can get.

Amy,

Haven't seen it before.

Hmmm ... it's available from the San Francisco public library. I've requested it, I'll tell you what I think of it.

Amy,

So the book arrived. It's organized interestingly; most of the book consists of chapters about specific Izakaya in Japan (Tokyo mostly, I think) with 4-6 recipes from each. So the book is more of a travelogue than a cookbook.

You might have trouble getting the ingredients for a lot of recipes as well; heck, I can't get some of these ingredients. Lemme cook something from it and see how the recipes are. Assuming I can find anything ...

Makes ya wonder, doesn't it? ;)

Yes, it's the same book, but I think I gravitated to recipes I knew I could get ingredients for...so, we're both right!

No, I haven't. I've been a little preoccupied with other stuff going on. I'm looking forward to it though.
