It appears that the OB is no more. I get an ad for domains.....and advertising.

Looks like some kind of a hijack to me.

The link on the CI page points to http://www.americastestkitchen.com/ibb but the page that loads is http://www.americastestkitchentv.com/ibb. Note the subtle difference.

Fuzzy may know more about how this might have happened. I know how to do this within a hosting domain manager - maybe someone hacked into CIs servers? Maybe their domain registration expired so someone else grabbed it and is holding it hostage?

I can't imagine anyone being able to hack into such advanced cutting edge technology...

I got a notification for one member's never-ending thread, and when I clicked on the link, that's where it took me......

It has been redirecting to americastestkitchentv.com for quite a while now. But something broke in the domain registration.

That did cross my mind.

I did a whois lookup on americastestkitchentv.com;

Quote:
Registrant:
America's Test Kitchen
17 Station St
Brookline, MA 02445
US

Domain Name: AMERICASTESTKITCHENTV.COM

Administrative Contact, Technical Contact:
America's Test Kitchen
17 Station St
Brookline, MA 02445
US
617-232-1000

Record expires on 06-Mar-2019.
Record created on 06-Mar-2006.

Domain servers in listed order:

PDNS2.ULTRADNS.NET 204.74.109.1
PDNS1.ULTRADNS.NET 204.74.108.1
apparently it's not expired, but the ICANN registration was updated today. Looks like something going on between ATK and Network Solutions (I'm guessing)

After a bit more digging, I found that the bulletin board can still be accessed here:

http://216.133.232.225/ibb/

Paul: I see you've posted over there. How did you get in?

EDIT: Never mind - looks like it's back now.

Well, in any case, as is the nature of the domain name resolution system, a problem spreads around at its own pace, as does the solution, so the outages appear to be roving some until all the changes propagate. I noticed it come and go a bit, so I suspect it may have been a few cycles of break/fix, although it is hard to tell since I use a stupid number of computers (and providers, and configurations within those providers) in the run of a day, so I could have been seeing the propagation of the change.

Hmm, in yet another location with another computer/dns combo. From here, right now, they are still pooched. Someone is gonna be unhappy.

All,

Given the change from americastestkitchen.com to americastestkitchentv.com, I can think that one of two things happened:

1) Since CI no longer has any professional technical staff, they simply forgot to renew the domain.

2) The original americastestkitchen.com registration was in the name of a now-ex-employee. Who did not feel obligated to turn it over to BCP, or at least not make an effort to transfer it.

We would hope that this would teach BCP that they need to employ some competent technical staff and treat them well. I doubt it though.
