JesBellle and I have finally been removed from the Friends of Cooks section of TOB. Long ago I was a member or the GREAT PURGE of testers; a few years later they started sending them again. Then I criticised their questionnaire and that got me dropped. But I've never been pulled from the BB. This time all it took was to answer another's query about how to get removed from the testing group. Mine was posted Dec. 16 but I'm not sure about JesBelle. My original post is still in my posts in my member's account but it is gone from the light of day. Should I celebrate with vodka infusions or Mexican Martinis? Who else belongs?

Based on the weather your having...both..the Vodka to honor the cold...the Tequila in memory of a warmer place..

I just saw your posts on the other board. Looks like you scared them. I invented a new martini the other say (I use the word martini lightly here), pineapple infused vodka, coconut syrup (couldn't get sweetened coconut, it would have been better) and a good squeeze of lime juice. Shaken, not stirred. I think that would be good for all the evils in the world, don't you?

I keep getting recipes and I hardly ever make them (they always come at the wrong time). Go figure.

Ok, Mary you lost me. That sounds like a foo-foo drink that could (OMG) involve a little umbrella or a spear of uh.....fruit. DD would love it. I belong to the Lou Grant school of boozing: 'People who drink that, haven't lost their olive.'

And, oh, getting banned from TOB? Raising my hand high (but it was temporary, it appears,) but congratulations!!!

Currently -39 going up to -38 tomorrow - what would be the appropriate celebratory drink? It sure ain't gonna have an umbrella in it!

Probably something hot. Hot buttered rum? Irish coffee?

To my knowledge, I was never banned from the bulletin board. They did prematurely and without notice cancel my CI.com commercial website membership, however, which is when I decided to leave cooksillustrated.com and all their properties and never come back.

Oddly, the cancellation of my account happened the week after Lindsay left. Coincidence?

This is the best hot buttered rum ever...I used to serve it apres ski in my restaurant at Snowbird Ski Resort

HOT BUTTERED RUM

(I cut this in half)

1 lb butter creamed
1 lb brown sugar
1 lb powdered sugar
1 quart vanilla ice cream
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg

Cream butter, add everything and beat until smooth….keep in freezer

To drink:

Heat water
Put a shot of rum in cup; add 2 tablespoons ice cream mix and fill cup with boiling water.


PS....I removed myself from CI Board as well (but I haven't been able to wean myself from the magazine yet)

Well it was a semi-umbrella drink. Kind of a butch pina colada as the pineapple vodka is not nearly as sweet as pineapple juice...I swing both ways umbrella and olive wise. I would say the drink of the day should be a bull shot hot beef broth, tomato juice and vodka with a good shot of hot sauce. No umbrella in that baby. The name fits too.

-46... I think I need to have one out of sympathy with you. We are having a cold snap... it is supposed to get down to 28 degrees (at night).
